2. Please focus on the particular topic, without
giving unnecessary information e.g., writer’s biography, etc,, unless it is of high
relevance to the topic. The purpose of the essay is to check whether you have read the
actual primary text, therefore it is essential to include quotations and textual proof
supporting your arguments – from that very book, not criticism.
3. Make use of appropriate terminology and theoretical tents where relevant.
4. Make sure to express your personal opinion on the issues you discuss and approach the
text analytically.
5. Formal requirements:
Length: 3 pages A4 (ca 1200 words), not counting references.
Times New Roman 12 pt, line spacing: 1,5 lines
Style: academic essay (no colloquialisms, contracted forms, unfinished
sentences, etc.)
The essay must have an introductory paragraph (introducing the character or
the problem), main part presenting your arguments supported by textual
material (examples and quotations), and a concluding paragraph summarizing
the thoughts you have presented.
No need to speak of the author’s biography or any other details that go beyond
the particular question.
6. All secondary sources must be duly documented (through intertextual references and
in the Works Cited section)! Unreferenced use of secondary sources (books, critical
articles, essays from the Internet, etc.) qualifies as plagiarism and results in a negative
grade
