The relationship between the United States and Israel has long been a cornerstone of Middle Eastern geopolitics, often described as a «special alliance» that transcends mere strategic convenience. This partnership, rooted in shared democratic values, military cooperation, and mutual security concerns, plays a pivotal role in shaping the balance of interests in the region. However, viewing this alliance solely through realist lenses of power and material interests overlooks the socially constructed nature of these ties. Constructivism in international relations theory emphasizes that state identities, norms, and interests are not objective givens but are intersubjectively formed through interactions, discourses, and historical narratives. In this light, the US-Israel relationship emerges as a product of constructed identities – Israel as a democratic outpost in a hostile environment and the US as its indispensable protector – while the balance of interests with Arab states involves ongoing normative negotiations and identity shifts.
The Middle East remains a volatile arena where great powers vie for influence, and the US-Israel bond influences everything from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to broader regional rivalries. As Cook notes in his analysis of major power rivalries, the US has historically positioned Israel as a key ally to counterbalance Arab nationalism and later Islamist threats, yet this alignment creates tensions with Arab partners who view Israel through lenses of historical grievance and pan-Arab solidarity . Similarly, Davydov and Samarskaya highlight how «special relations» are structurally embedded in shared ideological frameworks, amplified under administrations like Trump's, where pro-Israel policies reinforced a constructed narrative of mutual exceptionalism . This constructivist prism reveals that interests are not fixed; they evolve through discursive practices, such as US congressional support for Israel or joint military exercises that socialize both states into a common security identity.

В работе проведен анализ отношений США и Израиля через призму конструктивистского подхода в теории международных отношений. Исследованы механизмы формирования политических идентичностей, влияние американо-израильского партнерства на палестинский вопрос и баланс интересов арабских государств на Ближнем Востоке, а также рассмотрены изменения внешнеполитических дискурсов различных администраций США в период 1991–2020 гг. На основе сравнительного анализа сделан вывод о значительной роли социальных конструкций и норм в формировании региональной политики. Работа получила оценку «отлично».
