After the discovery of Christopher Columbus of America, European colonialists destroyed an extremely large number of Indians. Before colonization, 60 million people lived in the region. However, a century later, their numbers dropped to 6 million. Thus, between 1492 and 1600, 90% of the indigenous population - 55 million people - were killed at that time, accounting for 10% of the Earth's population. These are more people than currently live in New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and Beijing. Not only the war but also the diseases imported by Europeans were the cause of this rapid decline [1].
The Spaniards were the first Europeans to start developing new lands. Having arrived in Florida in 1513, they appeared there as conquerors. In the early seventeenth century, English and Dutch settlers landed on the East Coast. Many indigenous peoples initially welcomed them and even helped, especially since trade with Europeans brought them firearms, iron implements and other goods.
