In short words we can use other phrase “The ends justify the means”, which is more famous and discussed by philosopher, and also claims the idea of the superiority of results over tools or facilities, the probability of justifying certain actions of politicians that were made in order to achieve some kind of goals. Machiavelli touched the question about the role of the personality of the prince and discussed what traits should he have.
The ideal prince must be sane and wise because it is necessary for successful governing, and if he isn’t, his advisers also can’t be wise. Machiavelli is portrayed as cynical and believing that the basis of the policy is profit and not morality which can be neglected. The prince has to take care of “the victory and the safety of the state” in the first order, whereas “the means will always be justified”.
