The word communication has been derived from the Latin word 'conummicare' that means 'to share'. Communication can be defined in rather different ways. For example, some scientists characterise it as 'shared meaning created among two or more people through verbal and non-verbal transaction'. This definition emphasizes the sharing of ideas and/or information. Ideally, at the end of the process, all parties involved share the same ideas and information. Communication may be refined as 'interchange of thought or information between two or more persons to bring about mutual n erstanding and desired action'. It is the information exchange by words or symbols. It is the exchange of facts, ideas and viewpoints which bring about commonness of interest, purpose and efforts.
