1. Today I would like to tell you about rainforests because I think they are very important for our world.
2. A rainforest is a forest that receives heavy rainfall and a lot of sunlight. The most notable rainforests are located in the tropics or subtropics. Rainforests help to control warming of the climate, because they absorb carbon dioxide and others greenhouse gases. They store hundreds of billions of tons of carbon, buffer against flood and drought and stabilize soils. Rainforests are also the source of many useful products.
3. The biggest tropical rainforest is the Amazon rainforest.
4. Rainforests cover less than 2 percent of Earth’s surface, but house more than 50 percent of the plants and animals on Earth. They provide a home to wildlife and tribal people of South America.
5. But the rainforests are in danger now. Large amount of trees are cut down today near the Amazon River. By 2030 it is predicted that more than 50 percent of the rainforests in the Amazon will be damaged or destroyed.
6. In conclusion I want to say that the humanity must pay great attention to this problem because the destruction of the rainforests can cause ecological problems and speed up global warming.
