The life in the today’s world imposes new requirements to people. Being bio-social creatures, we can’t ignore the latest changes of the modern society. Nowadays, there exist almost no boundaries; one can easily move from one country to another, the world is open. Cultural clashes very often lead to misunderstanding and conflicts, sometimes even military ones. Thus, to be a civilized member of the modern society, one has to admit that intercultural communication is a two-ways’ traffic.
Globalization is characteristic of modern times. However, not all the countries develop so rapidly, there are still very traditional societies with low living standards. The level of economic, technical and other development can’t but determine, somehow, the culture in general. Thus, the gap in terms of beliefs and values between developed and developing countries may be sometimes really huge. But in no case it means that one nation is backward, second-rate and the other one is superior. Being involved into intercultural communication, one must be very careful – it’s very important not to look upon a foreign culture just from one’s own standpoint and judge people according to the value system of one’s own society.
