In one of his most famous campaign, activists hung a small inflatable boat called "Buffer" between whalers and whale watching in protest against the practice of hunting.
Symbol Greenpeace - Rainbow. Greenpeace has always protested against environmental pollution, challenging the right to release toxic substances that carry the threat faced by the oceans. In 1987, the Greenpeace flagship "Rainbow Warrior" was preparing to lead a peaceful flotilla of ships from New Zealand on the island of Mururoa to protest peacefully against the French nuclear testing. Three days after arriving in Auckland, French agents bombed the Rainbow Warrior and sank in the harbor, killing members of the organization Greenpeace - the photographer Fernando Pereira.
This incident shocked the world community! After two years of international arbitration, a panel of three arbitrators awarded for the damage inflicted for the purpose of settlement of losses in the amount of US 8159000 in favor of Greenpeace. The money paid by the French government, were used in part to support Greenpeace worldwide fleet of scientific and environmental courts and campaigning for nuclear safety, the test termination, and pollution-free zone subjected to nuclear testing in the Pacific.

Among the most significant achievements of the Russian Greenpeace are the following:
1992 Organized jointly with Udege protest against the barbaric felling Ussuri taiga South Korean concern Hendy allowed to save a unique portion of the Ussuri taiga - Bikin River valley.
1993 - A special investigation by Greenpeace in the Far East has forced Russia to acknowledge the discharge of liquid radioactive waste into the sea.
It published a report "Russia - Western waste dump," which presents numerous facts on the import of hazardous waste into Russia from Western countries. Publication of the report contributed to Russia's ratification of the Basel Convention, which prohibits the import into Russia of such waste.
1994 Greenpeace revealed the true causes and consequences of the catastrophic oil spill at Usinsk (Komi Republic) and forced the authorities to do cleanup.
1995 France, UK, USA, Russia and China have pledged to sign the Treaty on the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty;
The first Russian territory under the name "Virgin Komi Forests" is included in the list of World Natural Heritage by UNESCO.
1996 won a case in the Supreme Court to repeal the Decree of the President of Russia is allowed to import foreign spent nuclear fuel.
International timber processing company ENSO announced a moratorium on the felling of unique virgin forests in Karelia.
UNESCO included in the World Heritage nomination of the two titled "Lake Baikal Pool" and "Volcanoes of Kamchatka".
Greenpeace, together with the Center for Wildlife Conservation, prepared the first-ever map of areas of intact (pristine) forests of the Republic of Karelia and the Murmansk region.
More than 80% of voters participated in the referendum in the Kostroma region said NO! construction of Kostroma NPP.
In 1997 it published a report, "Poisoned city", containing all the information on dioxin contamination in Russia.
